Former British & World Supersport motorcycle mechanic, Steve Taylor, retired in 2006 because of multiple sclerosis. Helped by the MS Centre based in Canterbury, Kent, Steve decided to raise funds for the centre by riding a Yamaha Aerox to the Arctic Circle.
“The Centre boasts a hyperbaric chamber but it’s housed in a 27 year old prefab that had a 15 year lifespan of and plans are afoot to build a new one. I’m doing this trip, with sponsorship, to raise funds for the construction of a purpose built centre – and generally raise awareness of MS.
Last year I rode my modified Aerox for 19 days/3,000 miles from Canterbury to Casablanca…crossed The Pyrenees & Atlas Mountains in snow…. I raised a couple of thousand pounds for the MS Centre…….
I started thinking about another trip…..I saw a map of Europe on the wall- the seed for my ‘Arctic Adventure’ was sown…Bike Shop Faversham donated the bike and a 5500 mile journey ahead, it was time for some serious fundraising….a short email attracted a heart-warming reply from Davida MD, Davida Fiddaman…and true to his word, a Union Jack Jet arrived, including goggles and visor ‘
Steve has also been supplied with everything else he needs from RTS, Rockoil, Buff, Dunlop, and LD Ferry Lines.
Steve’s journey started yesterday on 25th June, riding from Canterbury to Belgium. Over the next 6 months he’ll ride through Holland, Germany, Sweden and Finland, before arriving in Hammerfest, Norway.
